In regeImässigen Abständen wurde in der Vergangenheit in den USA das Schuldenlimit der Staatsverschuldung den Gegebenheiten, sprich dem wahren Schuldenstand, angepasst.
Hier ein Überblick:

In den Jahren 1977 - 1983 wurde zwischenzeitlich ein permanentes Limit von 400 Mio. USD festgelegt und jeweils ein temporäres Limit erhöht. Diese Augenwischerei wurde 1983 aufgehoben und ein einheitlicher Begriff fand wieder Verwendung.
